Centro Hispano is a non-profit organization located at
817 S. Freedom Blvd., Provo, UT 84601 and has been a part of the community for over 17 years. The organization was founded in 2002 by university students who saw a need for services to the growing Hispanic population in the county. Their mission was to “empower Latin and Utah families by providing equitable access to information, resources, and educational programs to advance and strengthen the community.” Since then, Centro Hispano has expanded their mission and services to include any family or individual in need through the Community Resource department, the Health Promotion team, and the Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic.
The Community Resource Specialist can assist with translation of documents, notary services, immigration forms, information and referrals to trusted partners, cultural events and citizenship classes. For more information, please call Delmy at 801-655-0258.
The Health Promotion team is trained to provide an abuse prevention education curriculum called Safe Dates, comprehensive sexual education called Making Proud Choices, and a communication class for parents called Families Talking Together. In addition to teaching, the Health Promotion team participates in community outreach events, puts together Family Fun Nights and health fair events to provide families with community resources and a fun night out. The Health Promotion team is also trained to perform preliminary HIV tests and offer tobacco cessation resources. All Health Promotion services are free of charge.
The Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic (LITC) is a valuable resource for those who have questions or need help navigating complex tax terms. LITC keeps clients up to date with tax trends and changes, offers free financial literacy classes, financial clinics, and other financial services.
Centro Hispano is a proud member of the Drug Prevention Coalition and works with the coalition to increase resources and positively impact the lives of Utah County residents through research, education, and policy changes.
