Encouraging our kids to have healthy behaviors is most successful when we follow principles from the Social Development Strategy. This involves setting clear standards about healthy behaviors. The “secret sauce” for motivating kids to follow those standards is making sure our kids are strongly bonded to us. One of the best ways to bond is to provide meaningful opportunities for kids, give them the skills they need to succeed, and give them recognition when they do.
